ATA

The American Telemedicine Association is the leading resource and advocate promoting access to medical care for consumers and health professionals via telecommunications technology. ATA seeks to bring together diverse groups from traditional medicine, academic medical centers, technology and telecommunications companies, e-health, medical societies, government and others to overcome barriers to the advancement of telemedicine through the professional, ethical and equitable improvement in health care delivery. Established in 1993 as a non-profit organization and headquartered in Washington, DC, membership in the Association is open to individuals, healthcare institutions, companies and other organizations with an interest in promoting the deployment of telemedicine throughout the world.  ATA is governed by a Board of Directors, which is elected by the association's membership.    Read the telemedicine news feed featured on the ATA website at www.americantelemed.org.

Hawaii Telehealth Collaborative

An informal telehealth committee explores options to better collaborate on telehealth with the goal to improve care and increase the probability that clinical  telehealth activities would be sustainable.

On November 15, 2007, a full-day symposium was convened with key stakeholders involved in telehealth  Hawaii. The intent was not just to share knowledge, but to identify critical needs, explore common interests and mutual benefits, and lay the foundation for a working community collaborative. By engaging all stakeholders to create a common vision and agenda, the symposium sought to harness institutional and individual energies that will be much more powerful together than separate. The event was professionally facilitated to focus discussion on producing an actionable plan to better organize telehealth in Hawaii through a collaborative effort. This entity would seek to integrate activities, provide synergy, assist in seeking funding, and address issues related to policy, legislation, reimbursement, and sustainability through integrating telehealth into business strategies and clinical practices, telehealth activities would be sustainable.   For more information about the ongoing work of the Collaborative visit www.hawaiitelehealth.net.
